Peter Bubb’s Background

Before he set up Peter Bubb and Company, Peter Bubb PhD, BEng, FCMI, CMath, FIMA, CEng, FIET, MIIM had over 20 years experience of successively more demanding trouble shooting and change management roles as Head of IT in some of the world's leading organisations, in both the public and private sectors.

After managing IT in Taylor Woodrow and then setting up the IT function in Thorn Security, Dr Bubb became MIS Director of Levi Strauss Northern Europe, where he was responsible for a major turn round in performance of the IT departments, delivering substantial value to the business in the process. Subsequently he moved to become Information Services Director of Land Rover Parts, where he re-engineered the IT function and led substantial change throughout the company.

Dr Bubb joined Horizon Holidays Ltd in 1986 as Management Services Director, where he led a major turn-round of IT which enabled the company to quadruple its market share. Horizon became the acknowledged technology leader in UK tour operating. On promotion to Group Management Services Director of Horizon Travel PLC, he assumed further responsibilities for marketing and services throughout the Group's businesses. With Thomson Travel's acquisition of Horizon in 1988, he also joined the board of Lunn Poly, and commenced restructuring IT in the UK's largest travel retailer. He left Thomson in January 1989 to set up Peter Bubb and Company. At the same time, he co-founded and became Chairman of Holidays Now Limited, a company selling holidays through public access terminals. In parallel with leading Peter Bubb and Company’s consultancy activities, for 6 years, he served as Information Systems Director of Aston University. In this role, he presided over departmental restructuring and the introduction of a customer service ethos and a commercial focus into the computer and network services and articulated the vision of the “IT driven” university.
